$1B child welfare class action lawsuit filed in Manitoba

A $1 billion class motion lawsuit has been filed within the Courtroom of King’s Bench towards the Authorities of Manitoba and the Legal professional Normal of Canada associated to the kid welfare system in Manitoba.


The swimsuit has been filed by the Meeting of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) and the First Nations Household Advocate Workplace, alleging the system failed the youngsters, their households and their First Nations.


“Earlier than colonization, it could be unthinkable to take away a baby from their household, nation, lands and tradition. The lawsuit is critical to carry governments accountable for the hurt they’ve induced for many years,” mentioned Cornell McLean, the deputy Grand Chief of the AMC.
