Two individuals are useless after an explosion at an oil and fuel well site close to Slave Lake on the weekend.

The president and CEO of Tamarack Valley Energy Brian Schmidt says the explosion occurred round 2 p.m. on Saturday at one of many Marten Hills websites.

Two contractors who have been working at the site have been killed.

Schmidt mentioned the corporate enacted emergency procedures and confined the site.

Occupational Health and Safety is now making an attempt to find out what prompted the explosion.

“The families were notified and are going through a very difficult time. We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the families on this tragic accident,” Schmidt mentioned in a written assertion.

OHS says no work is going on at the site, so a stop-work order has not been issued.
