California-based Clorox mentioned Tuesday it has recalled some of its Pine-Sol scented multi-surface cleaners and all-purpose cleaners as a result of they could comprise bacteria that would trigger critical sickness in individuals with compromised immune programs.
The recall does not embody its iconic authentic pine-scented Pine-Sol, which is its solely product registered as a disinfectant.
The firm confirmed in an e-mail to CBC News Tuesday night that the recall applies to Canada, too, and contains Pine-Sol Scented Multi-surface Cleaner in Lavender Clean, Lemon Fresh, and Mandarin Sunrise scents.
“Original Pine-Sol Pine scent and Pine-Sol Multi-surface Cleaner in Spring Blossom and Rainforest Dew, that are offered in Canada, should not included in this recall and are secure to use,” it mentioned.Â
Consumers can discover a full checklist of affected products and date codes on the firm’s web site, and a hotline (1-855-378-4982) can be accessible as of Wednesday for Canadian customers who bought the recalled products to submit a request for reimbursement.Â
The firm says the recalled products “could comprise bacteria, together with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an environmental organism discovered broadly in soil and water.”Â
“The bacteria can enter the physique if inhaled, by means of the eyes, or by means of a break in the pores and skin. People with wholesome immune programs are often not affected by the bacteria,” it mentioned.
The affected product was offered from January 2021 to September 2022.
