OTTAWA –

The Public Order Emergency Commission resumes public hearings immediately, with interim Ottawa police chief Steve Bell anticipated to testify.

Bell is a veteran of the power, and was deputy chief when the “Freedom Convoy” protests swept Ottawa in late January.

He has been town’s interim chief ever since Peter Sloly resigned in mid-February.

Bell beforehand mentioned he didn’t ask the federal authorities to invoke the Emergencies Act.

Sloly can also be anticipated to testify this week earlier than the fee, which is trying into whether or not Ottawa was justified in invoking the act.

Last week, Ottawa’s police providers board introduced that they had chosen a brand new chief of police who will begin Nov. 17, regardless of town council election going down immediately.

This report by The Canadian Press was first printed Oct. 24, 2022.
