Federal officials’ update on COVID-19 in Canada

The federal authorities will present an update on COVID-19 and tackle different public well being issues this morning, as hospitals throughout the nation grapple with a number of circulating diseases together with the flu, RSV and COVID-19.

Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos and different officers will present the update at 9 a.m. ET.

Hospitals and health-care clinics throughout Canada are scuffling with a “multi-demic” of diseases that has emergency rooms experiencing wait-times of greater than 20 hours, with many pediatric intensive care items over capability.

Health-care staff are working time beyond regulation, CTVNews.ca heard this week, and the Ontario authorities distributed a memo Wednesday calling on household clinics to work nights and weekends to alleviate the pressure on hospitals.

More to come back…
