Defenseman MacKenzie Weegar signed an eight-year, $50 million US contract with the Calgary Flames on Friday.
Weegar, 28, is because of earn $4.75 million in 2022-23, the ultimate season of a three-year deal he signed with Florida in 2020. His contract extension will start for the 2023-24 marketing campaign.
He set profession highs throughout the board in objectives (eight), assists (36) and factors (44) in 80 video games final season for the Panthers.
Weegar arrived in Calgary with Jonathan Huberdeau within the July 22 commerce that despatched Matthew Tkachuk to Florida.
Weegar had 121 factors (27 objectives, 94 assists) in 306 video games with the Panthers, who drafted him within the seventh spherical in 2013.
