Incel pleads guilty to attempting hate crime against women

A 22-year-old man who authorities say recognized as an involuntary celibate and plotted to kill women at an unnamed Ohio college has pleaded guilty to a federal cost of attempting a hate crime.


Tres Genco, of Hilliard, Ohio, entered the plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati. He faces up to life in jail as a result of he threatened to kill folks, a U.S. Department of Justice spokesperson stated.


Genco’s lawyer, Richard Monahan, did not instantly reply to a voicemail in search of remark.


Genco recognized as an involuntary celibate, or incel, and interacted with a web based neighborhood of principally males who advocate for violence against women as a result of they consider they’re unjustly denied sexual or romantic consideration, authorities stated.


He performed surveillance at an Ohio college in January 2020 and wrote a doc that month titled “Isolated” that he described as “the writings of the deluded and homicidal,” in accordance to prosecutors. He signed it, “Your hopeful buddy and assassin.”


Police searched Genco’s house in March 2020 and located a firearm with an connected bump stock — a tool that permits it to be quickly fired — a pistol, loaded ammunition magazines, packing containers of ammunition and physique armor. He was charged in July of 2021.
