McIntosh leads Canadian podium sweep in women’s 400m individual medley at World Cup

Canada’s Summer McIntosh is again on high of the podium at the FINA Swimming World Cup.

She completed first in the women’s 400-metre individual medley remaining on Saturday night at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.

McIntosh set a world junior report with a time of 4 minutes 21.49 seconds to steer a Canadian sweep.

“Throughout the complete race I felt actually in management and powerful so I’m actually completely satisfied,” she stated.

Sydney Pickrem of Halifax was second in 4:28.45 and Bailey Andison of Smiths Falls, Ont., was third in 4:29.36.

Toronto’s Summer McIntosh claims gold in the women’s 400m individual medley at the FINA Swimming World Cup with a world junior report time of 4:21.49. Sydney Pickrem finishes second and Bailey Andison locations third to finish the Canadian sweep of the podium.

McIntosh edged American star Katie Ledecky in the 400 free on Friday night time. The 16-year-old from Toronto gained in 3:52.80 seconds — the second-fastest time in historical past — to interrupt her personal Canadian short-course report.

Competition continues by way of Sunday night. The World Cup circuit continues subsequent weekend in Indianapolis.
