NATO’s North American innovation hub proposed for Halifax

Defence Minister Anita Anand introduced right now a proposal to determine an innovation hub in Halifax for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.


The purpose of the hub could be to advertise co-operation between NATO’s navy members and the expertise sector, together with tech startups and tutorial researchers.


Anand says the proposed hub will focus not on constructing weapons however on rising applied sciences, together with synthetic intelligence, big-data processing, quantum-enabled applied sciences, biotechnology and novel supplies.


NATO has but to approve the proposal.


If accepted, the regional workplace in Halifax could be a part of a NATO community often called the Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic, or DIANA.


Anand says the plan is to create a community of innovation websites throughout North America, and an identical workplace might be established in London to help a European community.


The minister says Halifax was chosen because the proposed web site for a DIANA hub due to its 300 science and expertise startups, its seven universities and its giant navy bases, which embody Canada’s Atlantic naval fleet.
